On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 10:00am at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre, Perry Bay, St. John’s, MP Joanne Massiah will up the political ante in Antigua and Barbuda and take politics to the next level. The Member of Parliament for All Saints East and St. Luke will officially launch another political party which she has described as “new, fresh and dynamic” and which she has stated will field a slate of 17 candidates in the next general election which is constitutionally due in 2019.
In commenting on the new development, Massiah stated, “this is an historic moment which cannot be understated. Our Party is in a great battle for the hearts and minds of the People of Antigua and Barbuda. At the end of the day, we will think tactically and strategically, work with our eyes wide open and on the prize…. The prize being the privilege to steward our country and to transform our economy and society through people-led innovation and technology where our citizens and residents will witness and experience immeasurable progress and prosperity. This is the vision and the message which we want every elector and prospective elector to keep in mind as their ultimate goal”.
Massiah says that the new Party will bring a new level of professionalism to campaigns as we know them in Antigua and Barbuda, depicting the thoughtfulness and seriousness which demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing the nation as well as, the issues which the people want addressed urgently.
As the first female to lead a major political party in the country, Massiah says her slate of candidates comprise diverse individuals who possess wisdom, youthfulness and experience and will be presented in the coming months at Townhall meetings in the respective constituencies as the Party’s policies and vision are shared with the electorate.
